SportRenfrewshire are delighted that our team has again won this
very prestigious event recognised by the R & A of St. Andrews.
We want to thank our member organisation, Renfrewshire Golf Union
who have 21,000 members on their books, for acting on our behalf
in selecting the SportRenfrewshire Team and preparing Fergus,
Gavin, Philip and Fraser so well for the tournament in which teams
from across the country competed for the trophy.
The Boys and
Officials have certainly brought great credit to SportRenfrewshire
and indeed themselves. Despite unsavoury weather conditions they
recorded a fantastic score against top competition to win the
SALSC National Tournament 2008.
Gavin Hay,
West of Scotland Match Play Boys Champion, did extremely well
to pick up the Individual Scratch Tournament Trophy. It is also
worth noting that SportRenfrewshire players finished in three
of the top eight individual positions. A marvellous achievement
against such strong opposition and adverse weather conditions.
The hosts,
East Kilbride Sports Council partnered with South Lanarkshire
Leisure, and SALC officials, also commented on how well presented
the SportRenfrewshire Team were. Again we thank Renfrewshire Golf
Union for this. Renfrewshire Golf Union have a proven track record
in developing youth in Golf and we in SportRenfrewshire congratulate
RGU in their first class development programmes that manifest
in the success enjoyed by Renfrewshire young golfers.
