David
Horne, the Curling officer at Braehead and the organiser of the
National SALSC / RCCC Curling finals held at Braehead, thanked
SportRenfrewshire for their financial contribution to the above
competition but especially Ian Lynchahon for his immense contribution
both before and during the event. David said
” We held several meetings and were in regular contact by
telephone and e-mail. Not only did he produce everything he promised,
but much more. Ian obtained vital sponsorship in the way of trophies,
fruit and several items for goody bags to be given to the children.
Ian opened the event, on behalf of SportRenfrewshire but allowed
me to run the competition throughout the day but he was always
on hand if required. I asked Ian to say a few words at the end
and he was quick to praise others and congratulated the children
for a great day of curling, but also mentioned the parents who
were there to support them and also for providing the transport.
Ian's help and support to me was invaluable”.
Ian Lynchahon
stated “On behalf of SportRenfrewshire
I pass on my congratulations to David Horne for his excellent
organisation of the event. I also thank the officials who helped
make the day run smoothly as well as SALSC who selected us to
host the event. However congratulations should go most of all
to the children taking part who competed in an exceptional sporting
manner”.
The success of the Junior Curling Funspiel further demonstrates
SportRenfrewshire’s commitment and ability to develop grass
routes sport at local and national level as well as host major
national events.
He went on to say. “While it was
great to have competitors from every part of Scotland it was superb
that the under 15 Winners came from our own Greenacres Curling
Club who played so well on the day. A big well done to them and
indeed the coaches at Greenacres who are obviously getting it
right with their junior development programmes".
